November 2025: My work has been accepted by the African Studies Association conference in Georgia [November 19-22]. This is one of the chapters in my upcoming dissertation.
Paper: Translators as Gig Workers: A Pilot Study Assessing the Resource Portfolio and Agency of Translators
November 2025: Introduced the Swahili Verse Project at the Chawakama Conference, Maseno University, Kenya, recruiting volunteers for the ongoing community work.
October 2025: Received a Student Research Grant from the UW–Madison Graduate School to support conference travel.
August 2025: Organized a Swahili Verse Project workshop in Nairobi, bringing together linguists and experts to collaborate on language curation link.
Aug 2025: Exciting Milestone: Advanced to PhD candidacy at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Information School, after successfully passing my proposal defense and portfolio review.
July 2025: My third and final field research trip to Kenya for my dissertation project.
May 2025: I received the FLAS fellowship for the Summer and Academic year. This is key as I continue to pursue my Swahili learning.
May 2025: I was the recipient of the Ebrahim Hussein Fellowship, awarded by the Department of African Cultural Studies
April 2021: I was accepted into the Ph.D. program at the Information School (iSchool) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison
May 2021: Yay!!! I have officially graduated from Ball State University with an M.A. in Political Science and an M.S.C. in Information Communication Science.
