July 2025: My third and final field research trip to Kenya for my dissertation project.
May 2025: I received the FLAS fellowship for the Summer and Academic year. This is key as I continue to pursue my Swahili learning.
May 2025: I was the recipient of the Ebrahim Hussein Fellowship, awarded by the Department of African Cultural Studies
April 2025: 🎉 Exciting milestone: I’m officially a PhD candidate! After successfully passing my preliminary examination and program portfolio review, I’ve advanced to candidacy in the University of Wisconsin–Madison Information School.
April 2025: My paper, “Translators as Gig Workers: A Pilot Study Assessing the Resource Portfolio and Agency of Translators in Kenya,” has been accepted by the African Studies Association conference in Georgia [November 19-22]. This is one of the chapters in my upcoming dissertation.
January 2025-2026: I collaborated on a book chapter titled “For Africa Without Africa? Contextualizing West African Cyber Security Strategies,” which will be coming out later in 2025. This should be out around 2025 or 2026.
April 2024: I collaborated on a poster project titled “Utilizing AI to Enhance Swahili Speaking Proficiency Among Beginner-Level Students in the United States: A Pilot Study,” presented at the 18th Annual Second Language Acquisition Student Symposium at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
April 2021: I was accepted into the Ph.D. program at the Information School (iSchool) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison
May 2021: Yay!!! I have officially graduated from Ball State University with an M.A. in Political Science and an M.S.C. in Information Communication Science.
